In honor of Women in Construction Week 2025, Moriarty would like to share an article that highlights some sensational women trailblazers in the construction industry.
👷‍♀️Emily Roebling has been coined as the “first woman field engineer” as she took over her husband’s role as chief engineer on the Brooklyn Bridge project after he became ill. She was a pioneer for women in the 1800s seeking higher education.
👷‍♀️Cheryl McKissack Daniel took over her family’s business in 2000, making it the oldest African American-owned and female-run construction company in the United States. She strives to use her work to inspire both the black community and women in construction.
👷‍♀️Elsie Eaves is best known for spearheading the creation of databases to track and report valuable information for construction projects before the invention of the computer. She was recognized for her work by being inducted into the American Society of Civil Engineers, making her the first women inductee.
We thank these women and all the others who helped pave the way for women in the construction industry.
Our team wrapped up WIC Week on a high note by spending some quality time together!
